After a long wait, due to the state of the world, I finally took delivery of my Robalo 226 Cayman this past Tuesday. Excited is an understatement, but this is a review of the dealership, not the boat.It started with a phone call to ask general questions. Ernie Martinez picked up the phone and answered my questions and we agreed that I'd go by the next day to get a better understanding of the boat and answer any other questions I may have. I showed up to the dealership the following day and spent over an hour with Ernie going over options and taking a look at the few pre-owned boats they had, in order to get a better idea of what to expect. There was zero new inventory at the time as we were in the peak of Covid hysteria and manufacturing had taken a big hit. In the end, I gave him a deposit and put in my order for a 226 Cayman.Over the course of the next few months (due to Covid), Ernie kept me up to date with updates and making sure all of the options I wanted had been included in the build. I added a couple of things and made a couple of changes, but overall, Ernie took care of everything. I started buying all the aftermarket stuff I wanted to add to the build, once the boat arrived. Ernie answered every text message, email, and phone call I had sent him. He was always available, and I never went very long with a question that was unanswered. We agreed that the Bob Hewes install guys would handle all the installations and that was factored into the final cost of the boat.The day finally arrived when I was to take delivery of my new boat. Electronics, two power poles, trolling motor, and a couple of other things had been expertly installed by Mike and the boat looked like it belonged in the boat show (it actually was at the boat show). Ernie hands me a pen and I get to work signing papers. I had the financing and insurance already covered, so this was all just to make it official. As we were wrapping up the paperwork, Robert walks in and Ernie introduces me. Robert is one of the Bob Hewes Captains that goes over the boat with the new owner, on the water, to ensure everything is working as it should. I shake Ernie's hand, after taking a picture in front of my new boat, and I follow Robert to the marina.Robert was very patient and showed me every single switch, button, lever, hatch, and knob on the boat. He went through all of the electronics, in detail, and explained the break-in process. I was a little hesistant at first, as my experience launching and towing boats is limited, but Robert made sure that I felt comfortable and explained everything. After a few minutes on the water, it really felt as I was just out on the water with an old friend. I could not have asked for a better experience.As far as reviews go, this is probably too long already. I don't care! Ernie, Mike, and Robert deserve every word I said and more. Aside from my house, this boat has been my biggest purchase to date. I have every confidence that I was and will be in good hands with these guys. They have earned my business, my thanks, and most importantly...my trust.Thank you for making my dream a reality and for being stand up guys.

I purchased a robalo r-272 earlier this month and thought the experience at Bob Hewes of North Miami and specifically Ernie Martinez was terrific. Since Im not on Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Instagram, I want to do a review on your website. So here goes. First met Ernie at Miami boat show in 2019. I had a 2004 robalo R-260 at the time which I bought at Bob Hewes in 2005. I liked the new R-272 a lot but just wasnt ready. After my conversations with Ernie, I knew that Id seek him out when I was ready. Summer of 2020, one of my engines developed an exhaust leak which took over 3 months to fix because Yamaha parts were scarce due to COVID and I missed most of the dolphin season. So by November, I was ready. Ernie arranged a fair trade-in for my R-260 which I had kept in very good condition. He was very honest at all times and I had to wait until March 5 to get a new boat built. Wow was it worth waiting for. Here are a few things that I really loved. The dive door opened on port side right next to the platform on my lift so we can just walk right on. The center console has a nice freshwater sink so I can wash off the squid gook when yellowtail fishing which beats a bucket. The hatches that are forward can easily be opened even with the cushions in place. The boat has a windlass which is new for me. The forward benches have backrests so my sister-in-law wont slide onto the floor when we do our hole shot. Head opens in front which is better access and has an electric toilet(also new for me). Lastly but very important is the ride with the 23 degrees old deadrise which is really nice. I opted for the less expensive Yamaha 200 hp engines and to me, its scary fast. As I boat in key largo, I dont like to travel more than 24-25 so I dont miss out seeing turtles, etc. at my speeds, Im getting 2.4 mpg which is excellent for such a heavy boat. If a 27 center console interests you, be sure to check out the Robalo R-272. And do it with Ernie at Bobhewes. You wont regret it.
