Dry Bags
Odds are, there will be valuables on board the voyage. Passengers will usually have cell phones, wallets, medications, extra clothing, and other such items. But it's easy for these items to get wet. Maybe it starts to rain. Maybe heavy waves hit against your vessel and throw up spray. It's amazing how a small amount of moisture can wreak havoc on delicate items - and there's typically not enough closed storage space on boats to fit everyone's belongings.
That's where dry bags enter the picture. These handy storage bags offer valuable protection from water. Passengers can simply toss their belongings inside and enjoy peace of mind.
A Dock Line
When you arrive at your destination, you will need some way to secure your boat to the dock. A dock line is a valuable resource. In the early days of boating, the main option was a coarse fibrous rope connected with elaborate (and sometimes confusing) sailor's knots. Thankfully, modern dock lines are much more user-friendly.
The key is finding something that pairs well with your boat. The dock line needs to be sturdy enough to last a while and strong enough to keep your vessel secure. Many folks use flexible bungee cord ropes that stretch to the required distance, but there are other options as well. You'll likely need a few dock lines to properly secure your boat and it never hurts to have a few extras on hand.
Personal Flotation Devices
Anyone who steps foot onto your boat needs a personal flotation device (also called a life jacket or life vest). If someone should fall overboard, the life jacket will help them stay afloat until help arrives.
All adults need a life vest too. First of all, this sets a good example for the children on board. Second of all, adults could require flotation assistance as well. Second of all, there is a chance a person could get injured as they fall overboard, such as getting knocked unconscious or injuring their limbs. There could even simply be heavy waves that make staying afloat a challenge. Either way, you'll be grateful for the extra help!
